Chelsea know the four players that they want competing in the squad next season for the two wide positions.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how Chelsea play next year following the appointment of Enzo Maresca as the new head coach.

Based on Maresca’s success as Leicester City manager last season with a 4-3-3 formation, the wide areas may become very important at Stamford Bridge in the months ahead.

Foxes wingers such as Stephy Mavididi, Abdul Fatawu and Kasey McAteer thrived at the King Power Stadium under Maresca’s management.

Chelsea plan next season with four wingers

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via Substack that Chelsea are looking to go into next season with four main wide players in the first team.

It is understood that Blues stars Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling could be the two options fighting it out to play as the left-winger.

As for the right-wing, the plan is for Noni Madueke and Michael Olise to compete for that spot in the XI.

Of course, Olise is still currently a Crystal Palace star despite interest about his future.

Can Blues sign Michael Olise to complete their quartet?

Thankfully, pacey wingers Mudryk, Sterling and Madueke are already Chelsea players.

The Chelsea Chronicle thinks they each bring something different to the table, so keeping them all sounds good to us.

Here below is how each of them performed last season in Chelsea colours. We fully expect the numbers to go up next year under Maresca.

Name Appearances Goals Assists
Raheem Sterling 43 10 8
Mykhailo Mudryk 41 7 2
Noni Madueke 34 8 3

Hopefully, Palace talisman Olise, 22, joins the Chelsea ranks and adds his obvious talent in wide positions.

The Frenchman contributed 10 goals and six assists in just 19 Palace matches last season.

Simon Phillips claimed on Substack this week that Olise is excited by the Chelsea project and would be willing to join the club.

The Mirror previously said that Chelsea are expected to make a £60m move this summer to sign Palace’s Olise.

Described as a “special talent” by Patrick Vieira (Evening Standard), Olise would give Chelsea such a dangerous set of wingers for Maresca to work with.
