Chelsea have now opened talks about selling their £22m-rated player to a rival club in the Premier League.

While Chelsea fans may be paying close attention to any incomings in this summer transfer window, there’s plenty of individuals linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge. It’s certainly a large squad of players that needs trimming down.

For example, journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed via X that Aston Villa have already signed a deal to sign Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen. Romano added that Maatsen will cost Villa £37.5m this summer. Now, everyone’s just waiting for an official announcement.

Could another Chelsea player be about to follow him out the exit doors?

Ipswich Town in talks to sign Chelsea’s Omari Hutchinson

Romano reported via X on Thursday that newly-promoted Premier League club Ipswich Town are now in talks about signing Chelsea’s Omari Hutchinson.

It is understood that Ipswich are pushing to sign the 20-year-old attacker. This comes after he spent a really successful loan spell with them last season.

The talks are now underway for a permanent transfer to Portman Road.

In addition, The Daily Mail has claimed that Ipswich are attempting to complete the signing of Chelsea’s Hutchinson in a £22m deal.

The Blues playmaker is a priority summer target for the East Anglian side. Their manager Kieran McKenna is hopeful of completing the signing.

Could the Blues regret this one?

If this transfer happens, Chelsea could look back at this one as a mistake.

Hutchinson was superb during a season-long loan in the Championship last year. The versatile attacker, who plays as a No 10 or a right-winger, played an important role in Ipswich’s promotion. He ended up with 10 goals and six assists in the league.

Speaking via the East Anglian Daily Times last September, Ipswich boss McKenna praised Hutchinson as “excellent” after a performance.

The Chelsea Chronicle wouldn’t mind Hutchinson getting a chance with the Blues first-team next year. At the very least, they could check on him in pre-season.

However, you could understand why the Chelsea youngster would want to move somewhere to play regular Premier League football.
