Darren Ambrose has revealed that he once lost work with car sales firm cinch due to his previous comments on Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis.

Tottenham fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the club’s hierarchy in recent months amid poor results on the pitch.

In their 3-1 home defeat Brentford last season, balloons that read ‘Levy Out’ were thrown on the pitch in protest against the chairman.

Ambrose previously revealed his belief that majority owner Lewis is only interested in making money at Spurs as results worsened.

He has also been critical of their recruitment in recent years and even told Levy to ‘do the right thing or sell-up’.

However, he has now admitted that such comments led to him taking off work with Crystal Palace.

Speaking to talkSPORT on White and Jordan, Ambrose said: “I’ve been critical of Levy and Lewis in the past and it’s come back to bite me to a certain degree in terms of gigs I’ve been taken off because of what I’ve said.

“I was up for a gig, two [Crystal] Palace players and two Spurs players to do a trip in Peterborough around a track, electric car for cinch.

“I got pulled off the gig by Spurs, Spurs rung Palace and said, ‘Look, you’ve got to get Darren off the gig because we can’t put anything on socials about him because of what he’s been saying about Levy and Lewis’.

“It is what it is, I would not go back on what I say. I think Levy is a fantastic businessman, Lewis has no care for the club, he needs a businessman to earn him money. Levy is the best businessman out there to earn him money, that doesn’t help on the pitch.”

When asked to expand on Lewis not caring for the club, Ambrose added: “I think he cares for his pockets, I think he wants to earn money, who wouldn’t? It doesn’t help on the pitch though.”

After such a poor campaign, Spurs are at the beginning of a new era with Ange Postecoglou now at the helm.

James Maddison has arrived as their biggest signing of the summer so far, but uncertainty remains over the future of Harry Kane.

talkSPORT understands Manchester United are unlikely to revive their interest, but Bayern Munich could make a fresh offer.

Lewis is reportedly reluctant to allow Kane to leave on a free transfer next summer as he enters the final year of his deal.

He has also told Levy to sell the club’s record scorer this summer if he opts to not put pen to paper on a new contract.
