Who Is Raman Dlamini? – Meet Doja Cat Brother!
Doja Cat’s siblings have managed to keep themselves away from the limelight, with very little information available about them. However, her older brother, Raman Dlamini, has been mentioned in a few interviews, but still not much is known about him.
She is appreciative of the small family unit she grew up around. In an interview with The Fader, she said: “It’s always great to have both of your parents in your life and all of your brothers and sisters and everybody loves each other, but like, s*** isn’t like that sometimes.”
Growing up as some of the only mixed-race kids in their neighborhood, both Doja and her brother Raman had to endure a lot of bigotry. As a result, she lost interest in education and developed a passion for dance.
While Doja comes from a large family with siblings scattered all over the world, she has admitted to not being in contact with many of them.
Doja Cat Parents
The Grammy Award winning singer was born on October 21, 1995, into an artistic family in the Tarzana section of Los Angeles, California.
Her father, Dumisani Dlamini, is a South African actor of Zulu descent who is most known for playing Crocodile in the original Broadway cast of the musical Sarafina! and the 1992 film adaptation. Her mother, Deborah Sawyer, is an American graphic designer of Ashkenazi Jewish lineage.
Her father claims to have moved his family from the US to South Africa out of homesickness in the hopes that they would join him there, but Dlamini has repeatedly stated that she is not close to her father, saying that she “never met him.” He claims to have left his family behind in the US.
These allegations have been refuted by her father, who asserts that he and his daughter have a “healthy” connection and that her management company tried to obstruct all of his efforts to get in touch with her out of concern that they might lose her.
The singer’s family relocated from Tarzana to Rye, New York, shortly after she was born, and she lived there for five years with her painter and architect maternal grandmother.
Dlamini returned to California when she was eight years old, where she lived in the Sai Anantam Ashram, a commune in Agoura Hills, and followed Hinduism for four years.
The songwriter began to don headscarves and perform bhajans in the temple while residing at the commune, but she felt that she was unable to truly “be a kid” at the ashram. After her family relocated to Oak Park, she began taking dancing lessons and had a “sporty childhood,” frequently skateboarding and traveling to Malibu for surf camps.
The rapper had taken singing lessons from her aunt, a vocal coach, to prepare for her audition at Central Los Angeles Area New High School #9, a performing arts high school in Los Angeles.
Doja Cat Boyfriend
Although some of her followers think the rapper has a hidden partner, Doja is very private about her relationships. Since becoming famous, she has only openly engaged in one relationship.
It’s unclear, but the celebrity, who frequently engages with her admirers via Instagram Live, might have unintentionally disclosed her relationship status during a broadcast in February 2022.
Fans could hear a man’s voice in the distance saying, “Babe.” The musician abruptly changed the camera angle and informed the unknown man that “I’m on live.” As soon as the broadcast was over, she sighed to the camera and said, “Ok, gotta go, bye.”
Although the man’s identity isn’t known to the general public, it appears that she might not be single.
The performer has, however, been associated with various musicians and media figures, like Bree Runway, Lil Dicky, and French Montana. Additionally, she formerly dated Johnny Utah, a.k.a. “JAWNY.”
