A man whose ex-wife was coming over to pick up their young children, dropped the kids off at his sister’s house before allegedly killing their mother.

The body of Amira Moghnieh, 30, was discovered at a home in Bexley in Sydney‘s south just before 6pm on Wednesday.

Her estranged husband, Ahmad Hodroj, 39, was arrested and charged with murder at the scene.

Daily Mail Australia understands Hodroj and Ms Moghnieh had been separated for a year when she arrived at his house on Wednesday evening to pick up her young children.

Her cousin Fadi said Hodroj had taken their three young children, aged between two and six, to his sister’s house next door before Ms Moghnieh arrived.

It’s understood he wanted to talk to Ms Moghnieh about their divorce settlement, which was due to be finalised later this month.

‘He has three houses and she was going to get some of his assets,’ Fadi said.

Daily Mail Australia understands Hodroj is employed by a company that works for Qantas. He is not a Qantas employee and has not been for some years.

A former colleague said he was ‘very shocked’ to hear the news.

‘His wife used to bring him lunch to work. Sometimes he would share it. She was a good cook,’ he said.

‘His demeanour changed considerably since his separation.’

Ms Moghnieh had worked for the NDIS in Bankstown.

Hodroj appeared in Sutherland Local Court on Thursday where he did not apply for bail. He will appear in court again in August.

Ms Moghnieh’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief from family.

‘From the greed of this world, my sister is gone, gone,’ her sister said.

‘The mother of a sweet smile is gone, the sweetheart of my heart is gone.’

‘May your soul rest in heaven, my love,’ another wrote.

‘You will always be remembered in our hearts forever.’

Investigations into her death are continuing.
