Read the extraordinary texts from criminal gangs ‘ordering’ Australia’s cocaine dealers to freeze supply to stop a slump in the price of the party drug

  • Encrypted texts show crims manipulating drug market
  • Asked dealers to ‘freeze’ supply to inflate the price
  • Criminal cartels include prominent bikie gangs

Encrypted texts have revealed local crime gangs are manipulating the cocaine market after it was flooded by international syndicates last year.

The criminal cartels, including several prominent outlaw motorcycle gangs, are attempting to protect their bottom line by halting the sale of bricks of cocaine (1kg) to drive the price of the designer drug back up.

The texts indicate there will be serious consequences for those that disobey orders.

While the sale of bricks has been prohibited, dealers are still able to sell grams and ounces to maintain a living.

‘To my dear brothers of the underworld I need us all to sit back and stop all supply of bricks for four weeks and let me raise the market with a bit of patience,’ one of the messages reads, as reported by the Age.

‘I have spoken to all parties and everyone has agreed and is happy to turn off the tap and stop these price wars! As long as we are all playing ball and are on the same page.’

The price of a brick had dropped below $200,000 after a series of large imports from what is believed to be international groups.

The ban on sale of bricks will only be lifted once the price rises back above $200,000.

In one message, a user quotes American billionaire and stock market savant Warren Buffet.

‘The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient – Warren Buffett,’ the message reads.

The messages blamed Albanian, Canadian, South American and British crime groups for disrupting local supply with imports.

‘You are coming into our country desperate to sell and get a sale, and trying to dictate our market,’ another message reads.

Threats of violence are not unfamiliar for those manipulating the cocaine market.

In October of last year, a cartel known as The Commission – founded by imprisoned bikie boss Mark Buddle – warned they would be going after anyone who attempts to drop the price of the drug.

‘Play ball and keep prices high and dont make mistake and ruin your lifes [sic],’ the cartel wrote in a message to dealers at the time.

Although the discovery of the largest cocaine shipment in the nation’s history was made off the coast of West Australia in March, large shipments have still slipped across the border.

That same month the cost of bricks dropped more than $100,000 to below $250,000, according an underground source for the Age.
