According to reports, the crime scene did not suggest a robbery, or show any signs of forced entry.

Later, Joseph Unumadu, Marea’s son-in-law was tried and acquitted of the crime.

‘Every phone call, every door knock, every tipoff and whisper led me deeper into this story,’ Hitchcock said in a statement about the new documentary.

‘Not only did I feel deeply for Marea, who could have been anyone’s grandmother, but I could never have guessed where this investigation would lead. Marea’s time is coming.’

It comes after Hitchcock announced his exit from his high-profile gig on Seven’s Spotlight in January.
