Cherry Brooks was arrested at 3:45 pm in Colorado County, Texas in the year 2018. She is now facing first-degree murder charges.
Brooks was proven guilty of killing Goodwin using a shotgun after 20 years of the incident.
Initially, the whole murder story was puzzling and nobody knew that Brooks was the real killer. There were only rumors that Goodwin had been having an affair with another woman’s boyfriend.
TV Show Cold Justice Had Identified Cherry Brooks As The Suspect
It was the TV show Cold Justice which has identified Cherry Brooks as the killer of Joannie Goodwin.
The Cop show had helped the investigator with financial support to solve the case. For more than 5 to 6 weeks volumes of witness interviews were taken. In addition, evidence samples were able to be processed at a fully accredited laboratory facility in Salt Lake City. This ultimately yielded a result.
The investigators had revealed that Brooks was familiar to them as a suspect throughout the years. They had discovered that Goodwin was shot during a night out with friends. However, they did not have enough evidence to make the arrest until the TV show Cold Justice.
When Joannie was killed she had a 7-month-old son named Bobby Neighbors. It was soon discovered that Goodwin was apparently friends with a man who was considered Miller-Terry’s boyfriend.

The new investigation had revealed that Goodwin was with Cherry at a convenience store in Pawhuska. She was shot two times from a 12-gauge shotgun using double-aught buckshot.
Meanwhile, Cherry went ahead and reported Goodwin’s missing to the police that morning to get the police off her back. She further organized everything to cover up her crime.
Cherry Brooks’ Jail Sentence
Cherry Brooks was taken to the Colorado County, Texas jail, which is about 70 miles west of Houston.
She was extradited to Osage County on the outstanding murder charge and was held in jail in lieu of a $1 million bond.
The District Attorney Mike Fisher has dropped without prejudice, which means a charge could be brought again at some point.
