Singh is currently awaiting trial after he was charged last year with murdering the 24-year-old in 2018.

An Australian citizen who had been working as a nurse in the Queensland town of Innisfail, Singh had travelled to India shortly after Cordingley’s body was found by her father at Wangetti Beach, north of Cairns, in October 2018.

Police issued a warrant for his arrest later that year.

Four years later, in December 2018, they, the Queensland government and Australia’s High Commissioner to India announced the $1 million reward, as well as “an appropriate indemnity from prosecution”, for information leading to Singh’s arrest.

The reward is the largest offered in Queensland history.

Weeks after it was announced, Singh was arrested in India and eventually extradited to Australia, where he was formally charged with murder.

Today, Queensland Police confirmed it had paid out the $1 million reward to several people.

On October 21, the body of Cairns woman Toyah Cordingley was found on the remote Wangetti Beach.

“The Queensland Police Service has finalised the reward process,” a spokesperson said in a statement provided to 9news.com.au.

“We appreciate the significant public interest in this matter, however information provided on the process is limited as it is obtained on a confidential basis.

“As such we will not reveal specifics of the reward only to advise it has been paid in full to a number of claimants.”

Singh has always maintained his innocence and said during extradition hearings that he wished to return to Australia to fight the charges against him.

His trial is set to begin in July.
