Two police officers are hurt in Manchester ‘stabbing’: Paramedics and air ambulance rush to scene

Paramedics and an air ambulance rushed to two police officers who were injured in a stabbing in Manchester earlier today. 

Specialist forensic crime scene investigation (CSI) officers also attended the scene on Wood Road on the border of Whalley Range and Stretford.

Reportedly one officer was taken to hospital but neither have sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the Manchester Evening News. 

A cordon was put in place and a moped-type bike could be seen on the floor. 

An eyewitness said when they drove past at 16:20 they could see some damage to the kerb and nearby wall.

They added that 15 minutes later the scene had been cordoned off and ‘loads’ of police cars were in attendance.  

‘I could see further police and unmarked police coming from further down the road and then the helicopter which sounds like it just left,’ they said.

Another witness mentioned seeing ‘lots of commotion’ and ‘blue lights’ at around 4:30pm today. They added the air ambulance was seen landing nearby.

The cordon was lifted shortly before 7:45pm with the road now re-opened.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been contacted for comment.
