BURLINGTON, Conn. (TCD) — A 76-year-old woman recently pleaded guilty to charges related to the death of her 84-year-old husband, whose body she hid in the basement of their home.
The Connecticut State’s Attorney’s Office for the Judicial District of Hartford announced March 11 that Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi pleaded guilty to the first-degree manslaughter of Pierluigi Bigazzi, as well as first-degree larceny. Kosuda-Bigazzi is scheduled to be sentenced June 28.
In February 2018, Bigazzi’s employer hadn’t heard from the victim for several months, prompting a welfare check. Connecticut State Police responded to the home and found him dead. Investigators suspect Bigazzi died months before the discovery, around July 2017.
Following his death, the victim’s employer reportedly continued to deposit paychecks into his and Kosuda-Bigazzi’s joint account.
According to WTNH-TV, the victim worked as a professor for the University of Connecticut Health. In total, around $46,000 was reportedly deposited into the couple’s joint account after the victim’s death.
State’s Attorney Sharmese Walcott said, “This case has been pending for six years so we are thankful we were able to reach a resolution today.”
