Musk has since responded to his viral post with another humorous reply, stating: ‘Oh I get it now! Some people are reading the t-shirt as saying ”I love an AI”. What a funny misinterpretation.’

He subsequently released another follow-up post commenting that he was enjoying ‘Just a cheeky little humor’.

Musk was born in South Africa but holds Canadian citizenship through his mother, who was born in the country.

After growing up in Pretoria, he relocated to Canada in 1989. He studied at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, for two years before moving to the United States.

The playful picture and comments from Musk come after he officially rebranded Twitter to X, having purchased the social media platform in October 2022.

After buying the company, Musk made his intentions with his new acquisition known, posting, ‘Buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app.’

Musk explained his reasoning in what is now called a ‘Post’ – it was previously known as a ‘Tweet.’

On July 25, he posted: ‘The Twitter name made sense when it was just 140-character messages going back and forth – like birds tweeting – but now you can post almost anything, including several hours of video.

‘In the months to come, we will add comprehensive communications and the ability to conduct your entire financial world.

‘The Twitter name does not make sense in that context, so we must bid adieu to the bird.’

Apps that work as a one-stop shop for everything from messaging to banking and shopping are nothing new.

They are popular across Asia, with China’s WeChat offering social media and payment services.
