A 22-year-old woman who was killed in a horror hit-and-run car crash on Christmas Day has been named for the first time as Maria Carolina Do Nascimento Migel.

Maria’s family paid tribute to their ‘little star’ on a GoFund Me page raising money for her body to be flown to Brazil.

Four men have been arrested in connection with the fatal collision that left her dead at the scene.

Maria was killed when the car in which she was a passenger was hit by another vehicle that police attempted to stop moments earlier, but the vehicle drove off without stopping, and the officers decided not to pursue the car.

The Go fundMe  set up by the family raising money to fly Maria’s body to Brazil has so far reached £18,000 through 800 donations in just four days.

Tributes and condolences to the family have also come pouring in on the fundraising page.

One contributor described Maria as ‘very sweet and cheerful, Maria was a person dear to everyone’.

Another added: ‘I will always love you my little pudding.’

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday December 27 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

Two men, both 29, and a 21-year-old man were previously arrested on Sunday December 25 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

They have all since been bailed pending further enquiries.

The crash happened at around 3.45am on Christmas Day morning when officers on patrol in a marked vehicle indicated for a car to stop.

Police say the vehicle drove off without stopping, and the officers decided not to pursue the car.

A short time later the same car was involved in a collision with another car in which Maria was a passenger further down the road, and fled the scene on foot.

Maria was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of the London Ambulance Service.
