He had been missing for 12 days before being rescued from the rubble of his home. Even transport to the hospital could not save him. Christian’s coffin has now arrived in his home country of Ghana, where the mourning is solemn.
According to reports from The Sun, Christian’s coffin arrived in the African country of Ghana today. He was buried there, accompanied by a guard of honor. The Ghanaian Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is said to have received the plane from Turkey the night before together with the military honor formation. “It’s a painful loss, a very painful loss,” said the politician about the death of the footballer popular in his homeland.
On the football pitch, Christian has made a name for himself, especially in the British Premier League. He played for clubs like Newcastle and Chelsea, among others. But his talent was also highly valued in his homeland: in Ghana, he was considered one of the country’s leading athletes.
