Bickers appeared in federal court on Thursday to learn her sentence. A judge pronounced her guilty on nine of twelve counts in March, including illegal things.
Bickers, who served as the director of human services for former Mayor Kasim Reed, was accused of using her position to steer business to municipal contractors Elvin “ER” Mitchell Jr. and Charles P. Richards Jr.
Investigators believe she gave the person and their companies nearly $17 million in city work in exchange for around $2 million.
Authorities claimed Bickers used the money to pay for a luxurious lifestyle that included purchasing a lakeside property, a fancy SUV, jet skis, and pricey vacations.
She will be placed under house detain until she is ordered to report to an Alabama lockup. Her attorneys have stated that they seek to appeal.

Bickers began her journey with Emmanuel Baptist Church when she was quite young. Bicker’s family had a strong connection to the church because her father was the pastor at the time.
Bickers was the pianist and choir director. At the age of fifteen, Dr. Bickers acquired the job of Reverend of Music. She was in charge of teaching and directing the choirs, as well as playing the organ every Sunday. She eventually became the calling pastor and worked with her father.
She enrolled first in the Atlanta Public School System and then at Spelman College, one of the best HBCUs in the Southeast. Bickers holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Education.
