Romeo Beckham has signed a permanent contract with Brentford following his loan last season.
The 20-year-old has officially left his dad David Beckham’s Inter Miami, despite Lionel Messi confirming he’d sign for the club this summer.
Romeo spent the second half of the 2022/23 campaign on loan with Brentford B, making 15 appearances and scoring one goal against National League side Wealdstone.
Now, the Bees have decided to snap the forward up after his impressive start to life in west London, signing him on a one-year deal with a club option of an additional year.
In a statement announcing the move, Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane said: “We added Romeo to our squad in January and he’s been fantastic for the group.
“He’s had a terrific end to the season in terms of his recent match against Manchester City where he showed what he’s learned during his loan with us.
“We’ve continued to develop him in and out of possession and we look forward to him coming back in good spirits to continue working with him next season.”
Romeo lifted the Premier League Cup in May and he also featured for the young Bees against Monaco, as well as AIK Fotboll and Halmstads BK in the Atlantic Cup.
He made 20 appearances for Inter Miami II to help them to a sixth-place finish in the Eastern Conference in 2021/22 before his return to England in January, too, grabbing 10 assists in the process.
Romeo originally began his footballing career at Arsenal, but was released in 2015, which lead to him taking a five-year break from football.
He then took up tennis, even taking lessons from Andy Murray, Caroline Wozniacki and Grigor Dimitrov.
However he then decided to return to the sport in a change of heart, and now looks set to build his career at one of the most promising clubs in the Premier League.
