Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk was part of a Ukraine side last night that kept their hopes alive of qualifying for this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament.

Ukraine scored two late goals to beat Bosnia and Herzegovina by a 2-1 scoreline.

Next, the Ukrainians face Iceland on Tuesday night, with the winners progressing to the major tournament.

Mykhailo Mudryk, who’s an important player for his national side, completed 90 minutes in the Bosnia victory.

The 23-year-old appears to be coming into a little bit of form lately.

Chelsea attacker Mudryk was heavily involved yesterday in the Ukraine win, albeit he was unable to score or assist.

FotMob data rated the Blues star’s performance a 7.0. He managed five shots in total, with his expected goals and assists combined 1.28. There was a 100 per cent success rate with his three dribbles, too.

Chelsea fans agree Mykhailo Mudryk has to play centrally

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media all agreed they much prefer Mudryk playing in a central No 10 role than as a left-winger after watching his Ukraine performance on Thursday.

Speaking via ITV4 Football last month, Lee Dixon said that he prefers Mudryk playing in the No 10 position.

Here are some Chelsea supporters on X praising Mudryk:

One fan said: “Mudryk in central is a far better player. Excellent ball in that from Mudryk.”

Another posted: “It’s time Pochettino should notice that Mudryk does very well in central areas than wide areas.”

A third claimed: “Playing Mudryk more centrally was a masterstroke from Poch and the Ukraine coach has done the same.”

A fourth wrote: “I can’t lie, Mudryk looking better centrally in recent games just increases my urge to look at a 3 at the back even more.”

Another said: “A nice game from Mudryk. Literally did everything today – shows why he need to start there were some instances he needed to act matured and there were times he needed to be calm on the ball. All this shows why he needs regular football. Mudryk should be used centrally from now on.”

A final supporter added: “Ukraine are just bad overall, Mudryk was one of the few shining stars of that team, I watched the game and I can say him playing centrally does it for him.”
