Chelsea could be about to sign another young and talented South American player.

The Blues have already agreed a deal with Palmeiras for their Brazilian winger Estevao Willian.

It comes a year after Chelsea signed Ecuadorian midfielder Kendry Paez from Independiente del Valle.

With neither player 18 yet, though, they have been unable to link-up with the Chelsea first team.

However, one Brazilian who Chelsea are currently targeting is over 18, but he will also not be part of Enzo Maresca‘s squad if he joins the club it seems.

Chelsea target could join Strasbourg

In the future, Chelsea could have two Brazilians on their flanks.

One is likely to be Estevao, while the other could be Corinthians’ Wesley Gassova.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea are interested in Wesley, though they could sign him through sister club Strasbourg or loan him to them or another club before eventually integrating the 19-year-old into the first team later down the line.

On his Substack, he wrote: “SPTC sources have confirmed this interest is legit, but we have yet to hear about an official offer going in.

“However, we were told it was for a ‘future transfer’ from sources, and this is not a player that Chelsea have been looking at for the here and now. There is even talk that it could even be for Strasbourg, or if Chelsea do sign him, then a loan to Strasbourg or elsewhere is likely.”

The above comes after Foot Mercato first reported on Chelsea’s interest in Wesley.

A report from the French outlet claims that he could cost €20m (£16.9m) this summer.

Wesley Gassova could be part of South American core at Chelsea in the future

There could be a real South American core in Chelsea’s team in a few years’ time.

Right now, they already have Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, the two most expensive signings in the club’s history.

As already mentioned, Chelsea will also have Paez and Estevao at their disposal, while it looks like Wesley could join the two at Stamford Bridge.

If everything goes to plan, that is one exciting team Chelsea could have in the future, a team filled with the best talent from South America.
