Chelsea signed Cole Palmer from Manchester City in the last summer transfer window.

The attacker has made a huge impact since arriving at Stamford Bridge, scoring his 13th goal of the season for Chelsea against Newcastle United on Monday.

Simon Jordan has been speaking about Cole Palmer on talkSPORT recently, sharing his theory on why City allowed him to join the Blues.

While Palmer has been able to make an impact in west London, it has not been enough to help Chelsea reach their objectives this season. The Blues were meant to be challenging for a place in the top four, but they are currently in the bottom half of the table.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been really impressed with the 21-year-old but says he would take Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon to the Euros over him.

Simon Jordon on why Manchester City sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea

Jordan thinks City may have felt that Palmer was not right for them, hence their decision to allow him to join Chelsea.

On the English youngster, the former Crystal Palace owner said: “I think he’s one of the few shining lights. I’d argue that if Manchester City really wanted to, they’d have kept him because they are not under Financial Fair Play or any kind of governance from that point of view.

“I think they sold him because perhaps they didn’t think he was right for Manchester City.”

Following his goal and assist against Newcastle, Palmer is the only player who has scored and set up a team-mate in five different top-flight fixtures this term.

City probably did not imagine their former star going on to become this good or at least not this quickly.

Ultimately, their loss has certainly been Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea’s gain.
