One Chelsea player has seen his efforts last month rewarded with a place in the Team of the Month.

The Blues lost just one Premier League match in April, although it did come in damning fashion when they faced off against Arsenal at the Emirates.

However, other than that Stamford Bridge were treated to some thrilling moments, none more so than the dramatic win over Manchester United.

They were also big winners over Everton, racking up some crucial points in the race for European football for next season.

There was a common theme in both of those games, with Cole Palmer scoring a hat-trick on both occasions.

Cole Palmer in Premier League Team of the Month

Doing so again would see him match a record only currently reached by Erling Haaland, scoring a hat-trick in three consecutive home matches.

Palmer’s efforts last month have now been rewarded with a place in WhoScored’s Team of the Month, averaging a rating only behind Kevin de Bruyne.

His presence in the side has been absolutely crucial in recent months, and when he was not fit to face Arsenal, Mauricio Pochettino pushed for his players to prove they were not ‘Cole Palmer FC’.

This comment confused a number of people, with it definitely not having the effect the manager was hoping for.

Key games to come for Chelsea

Nevertheless, the England international is back now and will play a key role in the run in to the end of the season.

It is going to be a trophyless season for the Blues, despite Palmer’s efforts against his former side in the FA Cup semi-final, with his performance that day being described as ‘exceptional’ by former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.

All eyes in West London will be on Palmer tomorrow night as the Blues look to make a statement against arch-rivals Tottenham, with a place in Europe next season seemingly on the line.
