One Chelsea player now seems to be back in training ahead of the club’s return to action at the weekend.

Pictures on the club website see the player in question fighting for possession with club captain Reece James, as a number of injured stars stepped up their recoveries.

Injuries have continued to plague the Blues this season, with Mauricio Pochettino never being able to select from what he would describe as his strongest side so far.

Mauricio Pochettino under pressure

This has seen the manager under pressure to keep his job, however it does at least look like some of his top players are closing in on a return.

Supporters were delighted to see Cole Palmer back amongst his teammates, with his presence being sorely missed in the recent hammering by Arsenal.

However, he was joined back in the session by Levi Colwill, who has not featured in the best part of two months after suffering a toe injury.

This saw him miss a number of crucial games, with him not being available to start for the Blues at the back in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

In his absence, goals have been free-flowing in their own net, seeing them struggle to get regular wins on the board.

Colwill’s importance has been clear to see this season, with him finding his home in the middle of defence and being described as ‘fantastic’ by his manager earlier this season.

It looks as if the game tomorrow against Aston Villa is going to come too quick for the England international, with him hoping to make his return to action before the end of the season.

In his absence tomorrow, it makes sense for Pochettino to start the same centre-back pairing that did well against Manchester City in the FA Cup, with Trevoh Chalobah and Thiago Silva starting on that day.
