Tony Cascarino has been speaking about Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise as he continues to be linked with a move to Chelsea.

It has been claimed that Chelsea could offer Crystal Palace one of their own wide men, Noni Madueke, in their bid to land Michael Olise this summer.

The Blues’ interest in the 22-year-old comes as no surprise.

Chelsea were keen on Olise last summer, and the attacker had a really impressive 2023/24 season.

He was only able to make 19 appearances in the Premier League but still managed to come up with 10 goals and six assists.

Cascarino has praised Olise, being really impressed with what the Palace star can do with his left foot.

In fact, Cascarino has been so impressed with Olise that he has actually compared him to former Chelsea and Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben.

Discussing the France U21 international on talkSPORT (15/06/2024 at 06:52), he said: “He signed a new deal, didn’t he, last year? It doesn’t mean that much. He had quite a number of injuries last year. At his very best, he is a fabulous talent.

“He has got that skill, when he wants to get on his left foot, and he is versatile, he can play in a number of positions, I feel, but when he wants to get on his left foot, even though you know he is trying to do it, he can still do something special.

“He has got that Arjen Robben sort of scenario, the one where we think he is going on his left foot, he is going on his left foot, and he is still on his left foot and he sticks it into the top corner. Olise can do that. Obviously there is a big comparison there. Not as quick as someone as Robben, but great touch. He could play that number 10 role.”

Michael Olise can become as dangerous as Arjen Robben

Robben was a master at cutting in from the right-hand side with his left foot before scoring a brilliant goal or creating something.

If Chelsea do go on to sign Olise in this transfer window, there is no reason why he cannot do the same at Stamford Bridge.

Last season, the former Reading man showed that he is capable of scoring goals after reaching double figures in the top flight, while he is also a very good dribbler.

According to WhoScored, Olise completed 2.1 dribbles per game during the 2023/24 campaign, which was the second-highest average in his squad.
