One Chelsea player does not look to be in any hurry to make a decision over his future.
Departures can be expected at Stamford Bridge this summer as Chelsea look to avoid breaching profit and sustainability regulations.
There are a lot of candidates to go, including players at the club and players out on loan.
For example, Conor Gallagher, who has been a key member of Mauricio Pochettino‘s squad this season, could be sold because of his contract situation.
Romelu Lukaku, who has spent the last two campaigns away from Chelsea now, is also somebody you would expect the club to consider selling.
Player waiting to see all of his options before making decision on future
The likelihood is that Chelsea are going to try and push the likes of Gallagher and Lukaku out of the club to balance things out after their heavy spending.
However, it looks like Lukaku wants to assess all the options he has before deciding anything.
Discussing the striker on Substack, journalist Matteo Moretto said: “From his point of view, he is waiting to see what options he has, and a large part of that will depend on exactly what Chelsea are asking for this year.”
Lukaku is currently on loan at Roma, where the 30-year-old has scored 19 goals in 42 appearances.
Could Chelsea consider keeping hold of Romelu Lukaku?
Pochettino recently claimed that Lukaku is actually an option for Chelsea next season.
Honestly, if the Belgian is open to coming back to Stamford Bridge and staying there, then it is a good idea.
The Blues get a top striker without paying a single penny, a top striker who can take some of the pressure off Nicolas Jackson and help the 22-year-old to improve.
If Lukaku still wants to go, though, then he is likely to be sold. Towards the end of last year, the Evening Standard reported that Chelsea have put a £37m price tag on his head. The former Inter Milan man is the third most expensive signing in the club’s history.
