Jamie O’Hara said Chelsea were “shocking” during extra time of their EFL Cup final defeat against Liverpool on Sunday.
Chelsea came up short earlier today in their pursuit of a trophy, losing 1-0 versus Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
Both sides missed several goalscoring chances during 90 minutes of football, but the rivals were goalless and entered another 30 minutes.
Despite much more experience on the pitch, Mauricio Pochettino’s side took a backwards step. Liverpool punished them with a header from Virgil van Dijk to win the cup final in the 118th minute.
Jamie O’Hara was straight on social media to criticise Chelsea after they were beaten late on by Jurgen Klopp’s team. He suggests it’s a massive opportunity missed by them to win silverware.
O’Hara wrote on X: “Extra time performance from Chelsea was shocking, fair play from Liverpool what a performance from them young players, took the game to Chelsea in extra time and deserved the win, Poch won’t have a better chance to beat Klopp.”

Chelsea waste chance with Liverpool defeat
The general feeling around Chelsea’s cup final loss is that they’ve let a major chance slip.
Liverpool were depleted and relying on unknown youngsters for fresh legs at Wembley. In contrast, the Blues introduced some expensive and high-profile stars from the bench, but they couldn’t make the desired impact.
Our feeling is that this is going to haunt this group of players for a while.
Reacting on X to the cup final, Chris Sutton similarly ripped into Chelsea after losing to Liverpool.
Chelsea’s season may hang in the balance now when they host Leeds United on Wednesday evening in the FA Cup fifth round, which has suddenly become even more important. We suspect the in-form Championship side will fancy their chances when they travel to Stamford Bridge against a team that played a gruelling 120 minutes today.
