Former Chelsea star Michael Ballack has said that one player didn’t have a lot of faith in his body during his time at Stamford Bridge.
He told ‘Football’s Greatest’ that injuries stopped one player from perhaps having the impact at Chelsea that he would go on to do at other sides.
Ballack has played with some of the best players in club football, and a lot of this occurred in West London.
He has come out recently full of praise for former teammate Claude Makelele as one of his favourite midfielders to play alongside.
Another top player he had the pleasure to feature with was Arjen Robben, who would go on to have an illustrious career at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
There was a brief spell at Stamford Bridge though too, where there were certainly signs that he had the qualities to be one of the best in the world.

Ballack says Robben didn’t trust his body
Ballack however believes there was always an element of doubt in the Dutchman’s mind regarding injuries.

He said: “I remember Arjen when I joined Chelsea, he was vulnerable. He was vulnerable in a way where he didn’t really trust his body. A lot of muscle problems, and that’s why I think at the beginning it affected his game.
“Sometimes he got injured, and when you get injured a lot, or you have these problems, you lose a bit of trust in your body. I think with the move to Bayern Munich, he stabilised his body, and became an unbelievable player.”

Chelsea have had a number of sensational wingers in their modern history, and they will absolutely be hoping that they have some with the potential to add to that list soon.
Both Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk are being touted as players for the future, however are beginning to make an impact on their current setup.
