Chelsea left it until the 100th minute to come from behind and end up beating Manchester United in dramatic fashion last night.

The Blues recorded a thrilling 4-3 win over Man United yesterday in the Premier League, scoring two goals very late into stoppage time to snatch three points at Stamford Bridge.

Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer scored early to put the hosts in front, but by the midway point in the second-half United had scored three times to lead 3-2. Thankfully, Palmer provided more magic in Chelsea’s season by rounding up a hat-trick with two late goals.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side went from the sublime to the shocking all within the space of 90 minutes, so it’s a big relief to finish up with a win.

Conor Gallagher speech

Chelsea captain Gallagher, who’s wearing the armband this season whenever Reece James or Ben Chilwell are absent, did play an important role in his team’s success yesterday.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder opened the scoring with a controlled low finish, his fifth goal of the season in all competitions.

He doesn’t strike us as a natural leader in terms of his general authority, but there’s no doubting the academy graduate works as hard as anyone and he’s a boyhood supporter who knows what it means to play for Chelsea.

MORE CHELSEA STORIES

It’s interesting to hear the England international share in his post-match interview that he hyped up his teammates just before Chelsea against Man United by highlighting the significance of the fixture.

“It’s Chelsea vs Man United. I said to the lads before the game that it doesn’t get much bigger. Chelsea-United at the Bridge. It’s a fantastic game,” Gallagher said via Chelsea’s official website.

Blues need more leaders

We want to see more natural leaders emerge in this young squad moving forward.

It’s quite obvious that players like Palmer and Gallagher have an extra bite about them. We need more, though!

The writing may already be on the wall for Thiago Silva to go in the summer when his contract expires, but the manager would be wise to actually use him and recall the veteran defender while he’s still here.
