Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has been speaking about a couple of his team-mates following the Blues’ win against Leicester City yesterday.

Chelsea beat Leicester 4-2 in the FA Cup quarter-finals to book a trip to Wembley next month, where they will take on current holders Manchester City.

There were quite a few unconvincing performances yesterday, with Raheem Sterling probably putting in the worst display of the afternoon despite managing an assist.

The winger missed a first-half penalty and blasted a close-distance free-kick out of Stamford Bridge. Sterling was withdrawn in the second half and was booed off by supporters, though Gary Lineker, who was at the game, has said that it was not everyone and that those boos were eventually cancelled out by applauses.

There were some more bright displays, however, with Gusto highlighting a couple of them.

Malo Gusto praises Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke

Both Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke came on to score, impressing their team-mate.

On the duo, as well as Cole Palmer, Gusto said to Chelsea’s official website: “Of course, Cole is a great player. He is doing well too and I’m very happy for him to score and assist. He is an important player for us.

“Also, I want to show credit to Carney and Noni. They are two very good players and they deserved their moments when they came on, they both scored great goals and they played important roles for us.”

Malo Gusto’s stats after Leicester game

Gusto also impressed against Leicester, being the man who passed Madueke the ball before his excellent goal.

It means the right-back has now provided eight assists in 29 games for Chelsea this season, which is really impressive for a player in his position.

Going forward, Gusto really is an effective full-back. Alongside Palmer and Conor Gallagher, Pat Nevin has named him in his top three Chelsea players this term.

In the Premier League, Gusto has set up five goals in 20 outings. When the Frenchman opens up his own account, Stamford Bridge will surely explode. He has quickly become an individual who is valued in west London.
