Arsenal will get their pre-season preparations underway next week as they face German side Nurnberg in their opening friendly. 

The Gunners came close to winning the Premier League title last season before losing out to Manchester City and finishing second.

But they’ll be aiming to go one step further this campaign and there is no better way to start than with a win in their first game back. 

And it could be a special one as Declan Rice may make his debut for Mikel Arteta’s side if his British record fee transfer is completed in time.

Rice may join £65million man Kai Havertz in making his maiden appearance in red and all eyes will be on the new signings if they feature against the Bundesliga 2 side.

It will be played at the Max-Morlock-Stadion in Germany and is kick-off is scheduled for 6pm UK time. 

The game will take place while Arsenal are in their pre-season training camp at Adidas HQ.

Arsenal’s pre-season training camp squad is yet to be announced but all of the Gunners stars are likely to feature. 

Imminent new signing Rice could be there while new man Havertz is likely to be travelling to his home country. 

Arteta is also expected to use plenty of academy products that may feature for his side throughout the pre-season campaign.

Arsenal’s opening friendly will be played while they are training at the Adidas HQ in Germany. 

Gunners Sporting Director Edu said: “We’re excited to begin our pre-season schedule at adidas HQ, and thank adidas for hosting us again at their world-class campus. 

“Our match against 1. FC Nürnberg is another good opportunity to help Mikel and the squad prepare ahead of the new season.

“This kicks off a strong run of pre-season fixtures, with us travelling to the US shortly afterwards to face the MLS All-Stars team, Manchester United and Barcelona.”
