Carlton Cole is the latest pundit to join the Cole Palmer fan club following his big success in Chelsea colours recently.

Blues supporters are watching a frustrating season unfold due to the team’s inconsistency, but Cole Palmer’s an exception that has been brilliant since day one.

The 21-year-old attacker joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer. He immediately caught the eye for his technique, maturity and presence.

The England star is now up to 12 goals and nine assists in his opening 28 matches for the club.

TalkSPORT pundit Carlton Cole is massively impressed by what he’s watching from Palmer. In particular, he made the interesting point that the Chelsea star doesn’t get tired.

When discussing Palmer on talkSPORT, Carlton Cole said: “He’s a player who’s really exciting. For me, I’d select him in the England squad now. You can rely on him to do something in the final third… He’s doing it in the later stages of the game as well so he’s not tiring.”

In fairness, Palmer’s endurance isn’t an area of his game that people talk about.

However, the skilful attacker often completes full games and he popped up with two stoppage time assists in Monday night’s 3-1 league win away to Crystal Palace.

You want to avoid the temptation of going overboard on praising Palmer, but this really has been a special start to life as a Chelsea player.

One of his newest obstacles is dealing with the extra pressure on his shoulders. For instance, we’e guessing a lot of fans will be pinning the club’s hopes of winning the League Cup final against Liverpool on him.

Speaking via talkSPORT recently, Andy Townsend compared Palmer to Mesut Ozil. He’s really enjoying praise from all areas, rightly so.

You’d expect Chelsea’s young side, with such a low average age, to be able to match teams stride for stride with energy.
