Reports have claimed that Enzo Maresca has added to the list of first team players at Chelsea he is not letting play at the Olympics this summer.

The tournament in France is set to take place after the European Championships and Copa America, where a number of Blues will be representing their nations.

One of those is going to be Enzo Fernandez, who took extra precautions at the end of the season in order to make sure he was fit to play for Argentina.

He underwent surgery that stopped him playing in the last few games of the season for Chelsea, with him actively featuring through injury for a large portion of this campaign.

However, the midfielder was also keen to play at the Olympics, however this is not something Maresca was going to allow.

It has been stated that the new manager wants him available early in pre-season in order for him to implement his new plan ahead of the next season.

Maresca stops Malo Gusto and Benoit Badiashile playing at Olympics

Now, The Mirror have claimed that the Italian has stopped both Malo Gusto and Benoit Badiashile playing for the hosts this summer too.

The duo played a big part in last season, with Gusto in particular impressing in what was actually his first campaign at Stamford Bridge.

The right-back was actually voted as player of the season by Cole Palmer, who picked up the award at the recent in-house ceremony.

Lesley Ugochukwu allowed to play at Olympics

The France squad will at least have some Chelsea representation this summer, with youngster Lesley Ugochukwu named in the squad already.

With next season being Maresca’s first in charge in the Premier League, it is crucial for him to get a strong pre-season under his belt in order to set his side up to have a strong start to life under him, and ease some of the personal pressure on him.
