It would be an understatement to say that Enzo Fernandez was quite animated during his goal celebration in Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Aston Villa during the week.
Enzo Fernandez scored a fantastic free-kick before running towards the corner flag, taking off his shirt and pointing towards the ground.
It looked like the midfielder was trying to signal that he would be staying at Chelsea amid rumours that he wants to leave the club. Sources have told journalist Simon Phillips, though, that his celebration was more to do with him letting out anger, frustration and relief.
It has been quite a difficult season for Fernandez and Chelsea as a whole, with the Argentine and his midfielder partner Moises Caicedo having come in for a lot of criticism.
However, he quickly reminded everyone what he is capable of with that incredible goal at Villa Park on Wednesday.
Enzo Fernandez frustrated
It is easy to understand why Fernandez would be frustrated. Because of his price tag, everything he does gets scrutinised.
What has probably annoyed him the most, though, is how Chelsea have performed in the Premier League since his arrival.

After all, this is someone who won the World Cup – football’s biggest prize — just before completing his switch from Benfica to Chelsea.
To now find himself in mid-table practically every week must be frustrating. That does not necessarily mean he is unhappy at Stamford Bridge, however.
His agent has already explained that Fernandez knew what he was walking into, a brand new project. The Argentina international would have been naive to think it was going to be plain sailing.
Maybe he did not expect Chelsea to be in the bottom half of the table, but it does not look like that will be enough to force the former Benfica man to consider his future, at least for now.
