Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is under immense pressure in his role in the hotseat right now at Stamford Bridge.

Despite it being a very realistic ambition based on everything going on around them this season, the Blues are currently not set for a league finish that will allow them to qualify for Europe next season.

This will be of concern to the owners of the club, who will no doubt be looking for the club to enter the conversation of potentially signing some of the top players in world football whether Pochettino is there or not.

Todd Boehly wants Chelsea to sign younger players

When it comes to the transfer market, there has been a very clear policy from Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali when it comes to who they have wanted to sign.

There has been a clear slide towards signing players under the age of 25, with only a handful of their first team players being above that age.

This saw them not look to complete a number of signings which could have really helped them this season, particularly James Maddison who ended up at Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino says Chelsea need experience

Pochettino has now told The Mirror though that he believes that plan needs tweaking for the club to grow in the coming years.

He said: “We need to bring more young players, we need to bring in some experienced players. But that is all about talking… agreeing, analysing and designing the strategy for the next season and to go and fight for big things…”

If Chelsea can get themselves out of this mindset going forwards, they could find themselves the perfect addition as far as the striker position goes.

Brentford star Ivan Toney is likely to be on the move at the end of the season, and seems to not have been prioritised, although he could work out to be the best option based on availability and price when it comes to a signing for Chelsea.
