Jamie Lee Curtis says she missed out on meeting Princess Diana in 1995 because she was in the bathroom when the Royal arrived
Jamie Lee Curtis missed her chance to meet Princess Diana and the reason is a bit embarrassing.
The Golden Globe nominated actress, 64, told the Apple Fitness+ podcast Time to Walk the near miss happened in 1995, when she was shooting the movie Fierce Creatures with John Cleese and Kevin Klein in the UK when she got word the Princess and sons William and Harry were going to visit the set.
Unfortunately, when the Royals arrived, Jamie was answering the call of nature.

‘We had been told that day that Princess Diana and her children were going to come to visit and I admired her so much. We shot all morning, and when we took a tea break, for me, it was a pee break, I jumped in a golf cart and drove the two miles back to the dressing room,’ she said.
‘I’m in my dressing room peeing when there was a pounding on the door, “Princess Diana is here!”’
The actress, whose husband Christopher Guest holds a hereditary British peerage as the 5th Baron Haden-Guest, explained she didn’t feel it was appropriate to run after Diana when she returned to set, so she wrote her a note explaining the situation and had it delivered to the Royal’s apartment at Kensington Palace.
‘It said, “I’m so sorry we didn’t get to meet. I was very much looking forward to it as I admire you greatly. Unfortunately, nature called, and they don’t give me many breaks, so I chose nature over you, not knowing that you were going to arrive right at that moment. I’m so sorry and just think you’re great. My best wishes, Jamie.”‘

Diana, who was known to have a cheeky sense of humor replied with her own kind missive.
‘The next day, I got a letter delivered from Kensington Palace from Her Royal Highness Princess Diana, saying, “I’m so sorry I didn’t get to meet you, also. I admire you, and I totally understand when nature calls. Of course, you should choose that. I hope that we will have an opportunity in our lives to meet. Best wishes always.’
Unfortunately, the much wished for meeting never happened.

Diana was killed two years later in a car crash in Paris while being chased by paparazzi, but the Halloween star has held on to the keepsake.
‘It was just a beautiful letter, which I still have.’
Jamie’s career is still going strong. She has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once. She will find out if she can add another statue to her mantle Tuesday night when the winners are announced.
