Leanna Walsman and Stephen Peacocke to star in new Nine Aussie crime drama from the producers of Underbelly

Wentworth actress Leanna Walsman and former Home and Away heartthrob Stephen Peacocke are set to lead the cast of Channel Nine’s new crime drama, Human Error.

The six-part series centres on a female detective who uncovers a criminal conspiracy that threatens to destroy her entire life.

Production on the show, which co-stars Wolf Creek’s Matt Day, has already commenced in Melbourne reports TV Blackbox.

The behind-the-scenes talent on the series includes writer-producer Greg Haddrick of the Underbelly franchise.

Inspired by true events, the series will follow Detective Holly O’Rourke (Walsman), who investigates what appears at first to be a routine murder case.

Things get complicated as Holly steers her homicide team into a web of intrigue that ultimately threatens her family.

The show will also feature rising star and winner of the 2022 Heath Ledger Award, Rahel Romahn, as a detective who is drawn into Holly’s case.

Veteran Aussie actor, Steve Bisley of Mad Max fame, co-stars as Holly’s father while Matt Day plays her husband Luke.

Meanwhile Peacocke plays the character Dylan Mackenzie, a fellow investigator, involved in Holly’s case.

Other featured cast include Rob Collins (Mystery Road), Jane Allsop from House Husbands and Anthony J Sharpe, recently seen in Stan’s hit series Black Snow.

Emily Joy (Fisk), Ethan Lwin (Joe vs. Carol), Debra Lawrence (Please Like Me) and Daniela Farinacci (East West 101), also co-star.

Human Error could be the ideal follow-up to Nine’s successful Underbelly series, which has been running since 2008.

The franchise scored high ratings earlier this year for the controversial two-part drama Underbelly: Vanishing Act about fraudster Melissa Caddick.

Channel Nine’s Head of Drama Andy Ryan said Human Error will be the ‘must-watch’ crime drama of 2023.

‘The Nine network has always been the home of Australian crime drama,’ he said.

The show, which is supported by VicScreen and Screen Australia, is being made by Underbelly producer Greg Haddrick and Dan and John Edwards (Bump).

Writer Samantha Winston (Les Norton) is also on board as producer, while Underbelly author John Sylvester is a consultant on the series.

Ned Kelly (2003) director Gregor Jordan will write the series with Haddrick and Winston.

Human Error is produced by local company Roadshow Rough Diamond with Channel Nine.

The show will be sold internationally by the UK.’s ITV Studios.
