The Brown family, the focal point of the TLC series Sister Wives, has been rocked by its second marital separation in as many years.
In a teaser clip for the show’s Sister Wives: One-on-One special, it was revealed that Janelle Brown has been separated from Kody ‘for several months.’
‘I think if we both really sat down, we’d look at each other say, “Really?”‘ said Janelle, 53, in the clip. ‘We’ve been separated for several months.’

In the clip, which aired following the reality show’s 17th season finale, Kody, 53, told host Sukanya Krishnan, ‘Yes, we are separated.’
Kody, who entered into a spiritual marriage with Janelle in 1993, said, ‘Janelle has made it pretty clear to me that she’s enjoying her life without me.’
Kody and Janelle are parents to six children: Logan, 28, Madison, 27, Hunter, 25, Garrison, 24, Gabriel, 21, and Savannah, 17.
The parting comes just more than a year after Christine Brown, 50, revealed in November 2021 that she and Kody had parted ways after a 25 year-plus relationship.

Christine said of the latest split: ‘For Janelle, I think she’s frustrated and she’s so hurt and I think that man that she was married to, she realizes that he’s totally different, but she’s different too.’
The separation between Janelle and Kody comes at the end of a tension-fraught season between the two on the reality show, as Kody said that Janelle had never been on his side.
‘It’s been a bit of a civil war,’ Kody said on the episode. ‘The whole family in a way. I’m looking at Janelle wondering whose side she’s on.’
Janelle was upset with Kody in the wake of residual tension between him and multiple children over the strict protocols he put in place amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Sister Wives: One-on-One special airs December 18 on TLC at 10/9c.
