You taking that back, Chris? Tarrant leaves the security tag on his suit as he makes appearance on Good Morning Britain

Chris Tarrant made a television appearance on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday but made one almighty gaffe. 

The former Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? star, 76, revealed he had bought the suit himself but handed noticed that the shop assistant had failed to remove the anti-theft device.

Chris was unable to remove the device himself and showed his back to the cameras so they could see that the plastic tag was still attached. 

He said: ‘I’m looking elegant. New suit. First time on. Looking great. But on the back…’ 

Host Susanna Reid said: ‘It’s still got the shop tag on, and it’s so annoying you can’t cut it off. You’ve got to go back.

You taking that back, Chris? Tarrant revealed the security tag had been left on his suit as he made an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday 

Putting his head in his hands: Chris added that the security at the unnamed shop was not good because he didn’t set the alarms off when he left

So there was no way for security to let the cashier know so she could rectify the error. 

Viewers were not convinced though and joked; ‘How did Chris get out of the shop?’

‘Has the GMB wardrobe team been shoplifting outfits for guests?’

‘Chris Tarrant showing Richard how to walk out of a shop without paying & not getting caught!!’

‘Looks like times are tight for Chris Tarrant on @GMB … if I’m not mistaken that’s a security tag on his jacket!!! Or it’s a great #Tizwas gag!!!’

And finally: ‘@GMB has Chris Tarrant got a brand new jacket? It’s still got the security tag attached to it!!!!!’

Chris also spoke about his hosting duties on the Who Wants to be a Millionaire? which he hosted from 1994 – 2014.

He discussed a time he was trying to go into a pub without being recognised.

Chris said: ‘I ordered a pint and the landlord didn’t really look up. He held it in his hand and said “But we don’t want to give you that”, then he poured it in the swill bucket.’

This was a reference to Chris’ most famous catchphrase on the show.
