A man is fighting for his life after a suspected domestic argument led to an alleged double stabbing in Sydney’s south-west.
Neighbours rushed to a unit on Ninth Avenue in Campsie after they heard a woman screaming for help at 8.45pm yesterday.
They discovered a woman, 53, with a stab wound to the thigh and a man, 46, with serious stab wounds to his face, arms and chest.
“I opened the door and she was crying, just bleeding a lot, and a guy with me called the police,” neighbour Binaya Dhel told 9News.
A 25-year-old man was found outside of a nearby home after he alerted neighbours to his location by running up their driveway.
“We heard a guy running up our front property,” neighbour Leon Kintis told 9News.
“We could hear the sirens at the time so we knew something was going on.”
He was arrested and taken to Concord Hospital, where he remains under police guard.
9News understands the two victims are a couple, while the 25-year-old man is a relative of the woman.
The 46-year-old man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition, where he remains.
The 53-year-old woman was treated at the scene and is in a stable condition.
Ninth and First Avenue remained closed for 15 hours as police searched for the knife used in the alleged attack.
Students of the nearby Harcourt Public School were directed through the back gate as the main front entrance was closed.
Investigations are ongoing.
