Chelsea youngster David Datro Fofana is proving the decision to change his loan destination midway through the season was a masterstroke.

David Datro Fofana, who’s just 21, spent the first half of this campaign out on loan with German club Union Berlin.

However, that loan was ripped up in January, which was followed by a short-term switch to Burnley until the summer.

The young striker showed again today that Turf Moor is a great temporary home for him.

Chelsea-owned star Fofana now has four goals in eight games since joining Burnley.

The centre-forward scored an important goal in Burnley’s 2-1 home win over Brentford on Saturday afternoon, which earned them an important three points in the Premier League as they fight relegation.

He did miss one glorious chance to score in the first-half when he was facing an open goal in the penalty box, but his deflection took the ball wide of the net .

Fortunately, he showed class and composure in the second period by scoring a deft chipped finish, which turned out to be the match-winner.

Local media raved about the Chelsea loanee after his weekend performance for Burnley.

The Burnley Express wrote: “David Fofana – 8/10. Atoned for his two big misses with a clever finish for Burnley’s second. Always a nightmare for Brentford’s backline though with his energy and non-stop running.”

Impressive David Datro Fofana

Surely, Fofana’s form in the Premier League in 2024 is making parent club Chelsea take note.

Estadio Deportivo recently claimed that Spanish club Sevilla currently have their eyes on Chelsea’s Fofana as a potential summer target.

Could he play his way into the Blues first-team squad at Stamford Bridge, though?

Regardless of the fact that Burnley are 19th in the Premier League table, it’s impressive to be scoring goals in this division.

Fofana’s game still looks a bit raw and needs some polishing, but he’s got a lot of great attributes as well thatt are hurting opposition defences.
