One of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals really like one player in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
Conor Gallagher is Tottenham Hotspur’s “dream” midfielder, journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.
Based on this season, it is not hard to see why. The 24-year-old has been fantastic for Chelsea.
Before their game against Manchester City at the Etihad over the weekend, Gallagher was on a run of three goals in two matches.
He has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham for a while now. The Sun reported in December that they were interested in signing him going into the January transfer window but Chelsea wanted a £50m fee.

Conor Gallagher Tottenham’s dream midfield signing
According to Jones, Gallagher is the No.8 who Tottenham really want.
On the Chelsea star, he said: “Tottenham are absolutely convinced that he’s the kind of dream number eight that they’re after. So from a playing style, and personality on the pitch, Conor Gallagher really does fit the ethos of where they want to take this team.
“I’d say things that go against it at the moment are the fact that Conor Gallagher is Chelsea through and through. And that does sometimes play into whether a player would be willing to join a certain team. I’m not ruling out that he would join Tottenham, but it’s something to consider.”

Conor Gallagher the ideal No.8
Gallagher has all the attributes to play the No.8 role. He can do the dirty work but is also capable of getting into the box and scoring goals.
The Englishman has not been a goal machine this season, but his strikes against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa showed what he can do when he is in and around the box.
As for the other side of being a box-to-box midfielder, Gallagher has excelled at winning the ball back. His average of 2.5 tackles per league game is the second highest in Chelsea’s squad (WhoScored).
Ultimately, Gallagher is the kind of midfielder you want in your ranks. Yet the Blues may actually end up selling him.
The England international’s contract expires in 2025, meaning that Chelsea may have to do business with Tottenham or another side in the summer to avoid losing their asset on a free transfer.
