With 10 Premier League games left in Chelsea’s season, they’re desperately running out of time to salvage anything.

The Blues currently sit 12th in the Premier League table.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side could climb to as high as seventh in the division if they win games in hand, but we’ve not seen much to suggest they could string together any kind of long winning streak.

Chelsea host Manchester United tomorrow night in their first match in April.

We’ve decided to take a look at who the data says has been Chelsea’s best player so far this season.

Here are the top five Blues stars based off their FotMob rating in the Premier League for the 2023/24 campaign so far:

One spoiler is that Moises Caicedo, who cost £115 million (Sky Sports) from Brighton last summer, doesn’t make the top five. The midfielder only ranks eighth in the squad with a 6.96 rating.

5. Enzo Fernandez – 7.09 Rating

Blues central midfielder Enzo Fernandez, 23, sneaks into the top five at fifth.

The Argentine has played in 25 of the 28 league matches this season, scoring three goals and making two assists.

We don’t think he’s been at his very sharpest this campaign, but the all-action midfielder has shone in moments alongside Caicedo.

Our feeling is he’s at risk of burnout as there’s a lot of reliance on him. However, injuries to the squad means there’s not much rotation in midfield.

4. Levi Colwill- 7.10 Rating

The data ranks Levi Colwill fourth for Chelsea in league performances, which we’re inclined to agree with based on the eye test.

It’s his first campaign playing in the Blues senior squad, but the centre-back’s mainly been a consistent performer in defence. It’s worth pointing out that he’s covered at left-back a lot, too.

Unfortunately, the 21-year-old’s currently out injured with a toe injury.

The Athletic reports that Colwill is aiming to be back fit enough to make the squad for the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City on 20 April.

3. Malo Gusto – 7.18 Rating

We’re not surprised to see Malo Gusto earn a spot on the podium for his displays this year.

The 20-year-old right-back has taken on a really important role in the XI because of Reece James’ injury problems.

Gusto defends aggressively and intelligently, plus we think he can still get much better.

The Frenchman’s also a big weapon in attack, creating five league assists so far this season.

2. Conor Gallagher – 7.44 Rating

Conor Gallagher has come under a bit of scrutiny lately for his performances in the No 10 position, so this is a timely reminder of how it’s still been a very positive campaign from him.

The all-action midfielder is chipping in offensively, two goals and five assists in the league.

His work off the ball is better than most players in Europe, too!

Gallagher deserves big credit for how much he’s improved from last year, when he was a bit-part player in the squad.

1. Cole Palmer – 7.55 Rating

There was no doubt in our mind that Cole Palmer would sit first place as Chelsea’s best player based on statistics. The only surprise is the margin isn’t bigger.

It’s now 13 goals and eight assists in 25 league matches this season, one of those matches was for Manchester City before last summer’s transfer to west London.

Palmer is so integral to the Blues side whatever way you look at it, so we dread to think where the team would be without him.
