Virgil van Dijk partied up in Ibiza with Manchester United and Manchester City rivals to celebrate his birthday.

The Liverpool star was in attendance as Calvin Harris played to thousands on the party island.

And he was joined by fellow Premier League stars Marcus Rashford, Kevin de Bruyne and Nathan Ake of United and City, leading some fans to scratch their heads.

One even pondered what Roy Keane, notorious for disliking friendly relations between rival teams, would have thought should he have seen the post.

After Calvin Harris posted pictures of him playing the gig along with the football superstars, it did not take long for it to be shared across social media.

One fan replied: “Don’t let Roy Keane see this!”

Another wrote: “He left his team mates and went to celebrate his birthday with rivals. VVD is now in my bad book.”

And this fan said: “Three rival clubs all hanging out together. This makes me reason why we usually fight on twitter while these guys are buddies in real life.”

A fourth posted: “Calvin H is a Liverpool fan, De Bruyne is close pals with Van Dijk, Ake is Dutch so that explains it. But I’m not sure how Rashford is there.”

Another put: “Chilling with KDB.. and Rashford?? He needs to be interrogated when he returns for training.”

Along with an unhappy face emoji, this fan said: “With the enemies.”

But not all of the replies were negative with another saying: “Calvin Harris bringing together Man Utd, Liverpool and Man City fans in one post.”

Liverpool star Van Dijk was out celebrating his 32nd birthday ahead of returning to training at Melwood.

Jurgen Klopp managed to rally his troops toward the end of last season after a shoddy showing throughout the year.

However, it was not enough to take the Reds into the top four as they finished fifth in the Premier League.

It means that Liverpool will play in the Europa League for the first time since 2016, where they finished runners-up to Sevilla.

Having won the Champions League in 2019, it makes them one of the favourites to go on and win the competition.

Liverpool have already strengthened in the transfer window after signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoszoblai from Brighton and RB Leipzig respectively.

And there could be further signings with Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram also linked with Anfield switches.
