Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that one Chelsea player is not available for the Blues to play tomorrow despite starting last time out.
He claimed in his pre-match press conference that defender Thiago Silva was not fit enough to start this weekend’s game againt Manchester City.
Silva was named in the starting side for the last Premier League game against Crystal Palace, although he was forced off early in the second half.
There had been some reports that the defender may start being eased out of the starting team in the coming weeks.
This followed an FA Cup game against Aston Villa, where he was named on the bench much to the surprise of the supporters who made the travels.
However, an injury to Benoit Badiashile opened up a spot in the side, and Levi Colwill was simply not fit enough to return to the side yet.

It is fair to say that some criticism came the way of the veteran defender, with the game seeming to come to a halt whenever he got on the ball

With that said, Pochettino confirmed he would not be available for selection for the trip to the Etihad this weekend.
He said: “Yes, minor injury [to Silva]. He’s out for tomorrow. He’s not available. Afterwards we need to assess him.”
The boss went on to say that Colwill would be available for selection again this weekend, and the injuries in the role have left them short of options.
With it looking as if it is Silva’s last season at the club, he may only have a handful of Chelsea appearances left to give.
