Chelsea scouts reportedly have their eyes on a player who’s scored the same amount of league goals as Cole Palmer so far this season.

The Blues have scored pretty freely during this campaign under Mauricio Pochettino’s management, but they’re relying on the brilliance of their right-winger quite a bit.

Chelsea star Cole Palmer, 21, has now scored 19 goals in 36 Blues appearances across all competitions. It’s very impressive that he’s got 16 Premier League goals as part of that tally.

So, there’s speculation that the club are planning to bring in a new No 9 for next season.

The Sun claimed last month that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is determined for the club to sign a prolific striker in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea looking at La Liga striker

Artem Dovbyk, who’s having a brilliant season in Spain, is the forward to be linked with Chelsea this week.

GiveMeSport claims that Chelsea continue to look for alternative strikers in case they miss out on priority target Victor Osimhen at Napoli.

It is explained that Girona’s in-form frontman has been included on a shortlist by the Blues.

Dovbyk, who’s aged 26, has been key for a Girona side that has shocked everyone this year by sitting third in La Liga with only eight games remaining.

The powerful Ukrainian striker has 16 league goals and counting in the Spanish top division, the same amount as Chelsea’s Palmer in the Premier League.

On paper, we think he looks like the type of centre-forward that could do well in English fotball.

Chelsea were linked last year

The Sun claimed back in December that Chelsea put Girona’s Dovbyk on their transfer shortlist for January.

Now, it’s interesting to see his name crop up again.

The Sun’s report added that Dovbyk was valued at around £39 million by Girona. Will that value have shot up after continuing his excellent form into 2024?
