Hugh Jackman, 54, drinks cocktails and parties in Costa Rica before he starts shooting his new Wolverine film

Hugh Jackman will soon reprise his role as Wolverine.

And the Australian actor, 54, has enjoyed a trip to Costa Rica before his gruelling filming regime.

A very relaxed-looking Hugh posed for a number of selfies as he enjoyed some down time at the idyllic holiday spot.

In one photo, Hugh was seen wearing a blue rash vest after a dip in the water and in another he took in a stunning sunset.

Hugh also enjoyed a night out in a popular restaurant, sipping cocktails and dancing  around in an Ace Ventura T-shirt.

Hugh recently announced he would be reprising his role as Wolverine and has already started bulking-up for the role.

The X-Men star is meal prepping to help him get into shape for the physically demanding role and shared pictures of the food he has been eating to bulk up.

The Aussie star has been tucking into salads, pastas and other dishes, including  chicken burgers and vegetable rice.

Each meal has a calorie count written alongside it, ranging from 1100 calories up to a whopping 2100 calories per meal.

Generally, men require about 2500 calories a day to simply maintain their weight, suggesting Hugh will once again stack on the muscle to play the legendary comic book character.

‘Bulking. A day in the life. Thank you Chef Mario for helping me stay healthy and properly fed whilst … Becoming. Wolverine. Again,’ Jackman captioned the snaps.

Many of Hugh’s 31 million followers went wild over the photos and commented to express how happy they were he was reprising his famous role.

‘Appreciate what you’re doing so you can play Wolverine one more time’ one fan gushed and another joked ‘you’re about to be HUGE JACKEDman’.

Back in January, Hugh revealed it will take him six months of hardcore training to physically prepare for his return as Wolverine.

The Sydney native – who recently escalated his ‘feud’ with frenemy Ryan Reynolds – went on Who’s Taking to Chris Wallace and opened up about the amount of time and dedication that it takes to become the iconic mutant.
