Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has now given a brief response as to whether he would be willing to step down from his job at Stamford Bridge.

He answered a question to The Evening Standard after being asked if he would consider quitting his role in the face of a rough spell in charge.

Pochettino has reportedly seen plenty of pressure put on his shoulders by some at the club.

It has been claimed that there is a divide amongst the senior figures at Chelsea over what is the best course of action to take is.

It is fair to say that supporters have not fully warmed to the manager either, with it always going to be difficult for a former Tottenham man to do so in the West of London.

Reports have begun to spread about a number of candidates already being considered for a role that is not even vacant yet.

The likes of Roberto De Zerbi and Eddie Howe have been mentioned as candidates for the role, while a number of managers from across Europe have been linked too.

Pochettino however has remained a resiliant figure in press conferences, and had a brief response to journalists asking if he had considered quitting as Chelsea manager.

He said: “No, no, no. Why? Never.”

Given this is the third permanent manager the Blues have had in the brief period where they been under the ownership of Todd Boehly and co, it is believable that they would look to do anything they can to hold the faith with the Argentine.

A win tonight against fellow European-chasing side Newcastle would be a big step in the right dierction for the boss.

However, it is likely to think their best chance of reaching one of those competitions for next season would be via the FA Cup, where they will return to quarter-final action this weekend against Leiceseter City.
