Everything is starting to point towards one Chelsea target leaving his club in the summer.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney is at the top of Chelsea‘s shortlist ahead of the next transfer window, according to The Sun. And it now looks like the Bees are preparing for life without him.

Football.london recently claimed that Brentford are eyeing up a move for Norwich City’s Josh Sargent with Toney’s future at the Gtech Community Stadium in serious doubt.

His arrival, then, could pave the way for the 27-year-old to join Chelsea or another club this summer.

Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji has praised Toney, claiming that the striker uses his body so well.

Brentford have accepted Ivan Toney could join Chelsea or another Premier League club

Brentford seem to have accepted that Toney is likely to leave at the end of the season as they target other forwards.

In fact, his manager Thomas Frank stated last month that it is “obvious” that the England international is going to depart the Gtech Community Stadium in the summer.

“It is relatively obvious that Ivan Toney will probably be sold this summer,” the Bees boss said in February.

Regarding how much the former Peterborough man could cost, a report from HITC claims that Brentford could sell him for £60m.

Toney missed the first half of the season because of an eight-month ban but has come back with a bang. In eight Premier League appearances, he has scored four goals. As for the last campaign, the No.9 netted 20 times in 33 outings.

Had Toney had more years left on his contract, Brentford would definitely not be entertaining the idea of selling him. But with his deal expiring in 2025, the Bees know that they are at risk of losing their talisman for nothing, which is why they will have to listen to Chelsea if they come knocking when the transfer market opens again.
