Megan Fox took to Instagram Stories Thursday to defend herself after she was attacked online after posting a link to a friend’s $30,000 GoFundMe drive, with numerous people questioning why the actress didn’t foot the bill herself.
The Oak Ridge, Tennessee-born beauty, 37, posted a link to the account on behalf of her longtime nail tech Brittney Boyce, whose 64-year-old father Michael is battling pancreatic cancer.
After fans said they were ‘absolutely speechless’ as to why the ‘rich as f**k’ Transformers star didn’t cover the costs herself – saying they didn’t see her listed as a donor – Fox explained her actions and defended her sense of altruism.
‘One thing you’re not going to accuse me of is being miserly or lacking generosity,’ said Fox, who is mom to three kids with ex-husband Brian Austin Green, 49 – Noah Shannon, 10, Bodhi Ransom, nine, and Journey River, six.
The Big Gold Brick actress said she was merely honoring Boyce’s ask to use her platform to promote awareness of the GoFundMe account to her 21.3 million followers.

Statement: Fox posted on Instagram Stories Thursday after facing sharp criticism, saying, ‘One thing you’re not going to accuse me of is being miserly or lacking generosity’
She noted that Boyce had personal reasons in going for small donations via the campaign as opposed to asking her high-profile clientele for large sums. (Boyce has also done nails for the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kerry Washington and Olivia Rodrigo.)
‘Do any of you have the emotional intelligence to consider that maybe brit doesn’t want her celebrity clients donating large sums of money to her because it creates a dynamic in her working relationships that makes her uncomfortable?’ Fox said.
She continued, ‘So instead she asked me to post the gofund me so that many people could donate small amounts of money to help them reach their goal.
Fox said she ‘just obliged’ the request made by Boyce, and obviously would be open to helping out if asked: ‘Anything she needs from me personally she will ask, and I will do it privately.’
She wrapped up in telling her critics, ‘So try again on another day (probably tmwr!) with some different bulls*** you bunch of psychos.’
Boyce said she launched the campaign in the hopes of covering her father’s exorbitant medical expenses so he can ‘focus on himself and not the stress on finances.’
Fox — who has a reported net worth of $8million — re-posted the GoFundMe on her Instagram Story on Monday.
‘My friends dad was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer if you guys are able to help please do,’ captioned Fox, who included a direct link to the fundraiser.

Fans then expressed outrage on social media as they accused the star of ‘hoarding money’ by asking those ‘much poorer’ than her to reach into their own pockets.
‘megan fox sharing a gofundme for 30k has got to be a joke,’ read one rage-filled tweet. ‘as if she isn’t rich as f**k and could help their friend immediately lol.’
Another Twitter user was left ‘absolutely speechless’ after learning that ‘millionaire’ Megan was directing her fans to her friend’s GoFundMe.
‘If I had as much money as her, I’d cover 100% of a friend’s parent’s medical expenses before I asked strangers to,’ another chimed in,’ wrote one disappointed fan.
Megan was also accused of not donating herself as the current ‘highest donation is only $300’ and is associated with the name ‘Jesus Guerrero.’
They added: ‘Sis better contribute herself and lead the way.’
Megan’s name cannot be found on the current list of donors but it’s important to note that she may have donated directly to Boyce and her family.
As of now, the fundraiser sits at just over $8,000 and has since increased its fundraising goal from $30,000 to $60,000.
Page Six noted that Boyce was behind Megan’s fiancé Machine Gun Kelly’s diamond manicure at the Billboard Music Awards last year — which was worth a reported $30,000.
In her GoFundMe’s description, the nail tech revealed that her father only recently learned of his cancer diagnosis after getting a CT Scan last week.
‘He’s only 64 years old and still working wasn’t planing on retiring anytime soon. He has already missed a lot of work over this and i assume he will be missing a lot more,’ she wrote.
Boyce said that her father recently picked up his ‘first prescription’ and learned that it was not covered by his health insurance.
‘The cost of that alone was $1000 and it’s not even a full month supply,’ she wrote.
‘My goal here is to help him w/ medical expenses so he can focus on himself and not the stress on finances.’
